2022 Riesling
With fairy floss and orange blossom bursting from the glass, this Riesling is not the typical Riesling! Sourced from my good mates at Chalou in Orange NSW this little project shows intensity and style, a dash of second use french oak to layer upon the long acid finish. A sumptuous european style of Riesling.
Riesling (100%)
12.8%
Sourced from Chalou vineyards in Orange NSW, based at 910m above sea level on a basalt hill and practiced organically. Younger vines around 20 years old. It was picked around 11.5 and whole bunch pressed to an older french oak barrique and a mix of 2nd use French oak barrique. The fermentation was a slow and cool ferment that took about 90 days to ferment to dryness. It was fermented on lees with full malolactic fermentation. Elevage in oak for 12 months before it was racked and a small amount of sulfur added before bottling.
Style: Medium bodied, dry white wine.
Vineyard: Chalou vineyard, Orange NSW.
Best with: Stir fried Thai basil chilli chicken with cashew.
Drink: Now and over 10 years.
