2025 Sigurd Chenin Blanc (Barossa/Clare Valley)
2025 Sigurd Chenin Blanc (Barossa/Clare Valley)
Flint. Cashew. Meyer Lemon.
The 2025 Chenin Blanc shows notes of Meyer lemon, flint, and a gentle cashew richness. There’s lemon curd, golden apple and a touch of spice, with a savoury edge of brined citrus and quince sitting just underneath. On the palate, it’s layered but controlled - a fine chalky texture, steady acidity, and a mineral line that keeps everything in place. It builds slowly in the glass, holding both tension and depth.
Varieties: 100% Chenin Blanc (85% Barossa Valley, 15% Clare Valley)
Alcohol: 12.1%
Sourced from three sites. An over 60-year-old organically farmed vineyard, most elevated block in the northern Clare Valley brings drive and purity. Vine Vale in the Barossa adds precision from sandy soils, while a small Light Pass parcel brings a bit more flesh and depth. The fruit is pressed firmly to pull out texture and phenolic detail, then fermented naturally on lees for 8 to 20 days, going through full malolactic fermentation. It rests in older French and Slovenian oak puncheons, a 1000L European oak cask, and a 3200L foudre until January 2026, before being gently racked into stainless steel for another 6 weeks, and then bottled with minimal sulphur addition.
